25th Rida Cup
Oct 4th-Oct 5th 2025
Originally scheduled to take place at The Belfry in England, the 2001 Ryder Cup was canceled due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States. The competition was delayed until 2002, where both teams honoured the victims during the opening ceremony. In Ghana, eight friends, unable to watch the Ryder Cup in 2001, decided to create their own version. On the last weekend of September, they played at the Achimota Golf Club over two days. The event was such a success that they decided to repeat it the following year. The competition was set as a North vs. South event to include the numerous players from around the world living and working in Ghana. Since then, the RIDA Cup has grown stronger, being played at The Centre of the World Golf Club in Tema, Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono, and the Achimota Golf Club in Accra. From the original eight players, the event has grown to include over 60 players from countries around the world. Over the years, many people have come and gone, including expats who were here for a limited time and those who have sadly passed away. We've shared countless wonderful memories and met many amazing people. As we look forward to the memories and friendships we will forge in 2025, we proudly celebrate our 25th year.
